soooo this weekend begins the very fun week of college called finals week. its not that fun though. it actually is the worst in case you didnt know. most college students have mental breakdowns this week because of the insane amount of work they need to do in order to try and ace (or at least pass) their classes. a week from today i will be HOME on long island!!! but until then its work work work! i have several papers to do, but one of my finals is done already and one is half done. so thats good i guess. also gotta pack up my stuff, clean the room, throw out anything i dont need to take home and use up the rest of my points!!
basically, i'm preparing for a week of nothing but stress and starbucks. any fred state people who need a break hit me up cause if i dont take breaks i will dieeeeeeeeeeee!
i hate finals, even if all mine are papers. they still suck!
good luck on yours, everyone!

fred fest results!
sooo this weekend was fredfest. for those of you who dont go to fredonia state, its a big ass drunken festival where people start thursday and end in the wee hours of sunday morning. i did well this year--only puked friday night and that wasnt until i got home at 3am so i consider it a win. i mixed every type of alcohol known to man, went to three house parties and 4 bars. started at 2pm and ended at 3am. sucessss!
saturday was fun too, i worked security at the jacks mannequin concert and it was awesome. met some cool new friends. made a new bestfried saturday night, he is basically exactly like me but a guy. his name is jeremy and we debated star wars, discussed the office, sand brand new songs from atop a roof at 2am, jammed out to the beatles on a couch on my friends frot lawn, and yelled at some drunk biddies as they meandered on by. it was epic, to say the very least. i rapped some eminem for the saturday night crew and they said i have a lovely singing voice (ha) and it was pretty awesome. i wasn't even hungover today! winnnnnn again :)
oh and osama bin laden is finally dead! cheers; death to terrorism i guess!
ps... its good to be back blogging :)

my inner monologue
sooo my inner monologue entertains me a lot. so i am going to just write down anything that comes to mind here. for instance i currently have nickelodeon on and its an episode of spongebob. and actually i've never seen it before and its pretty good, as usual. squidward is the funniest squid ever an his clarinet always sounds like its dying haha. and spongebob is crying because patrick is stupid. almost as stupid as my cat, tinkerbell. i miss that fat cat. i wish that she was here with me because she would sleep on my bed and we could cuddle when i watch tv at night and she could try to sit on my lap when im at my computer and i would just love to have a sweet little (big) cat here all the time. i wanna take her with me to park place next year but idk if we can have cats there. i hope we can but if not i will try to find a way to get her in. i thnk she would like to get away from my family because they all just hate her kind of. they dont exactly love her because sometimes she smells like poop. we dont think she cleans herself. and she has these big scary yellow eyes which are kind of creepy late at night. and also because shes a cudddly cat and always wants to sit on a lap and cuddle. my dad hates that but probably becuase he is allergic sort of to cats.
i cant wait for spring break to see my cats and my parents and my friends and my boyfriend and even my car. i miss seeing that old beat up honda accord. its jonk but its my junk and its like the millenium falcon--may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts. also i have so many memories with the accord... got pulled over in it, got out of a ticket in it, driven drunken fools home in it, driven it to work in 104 degree weather with no air conditioner, and its made a trip to florida and back. that was when it was my parents car. but now its mine and i wanna take it with me next year also. but idk if it will make it because its super old and not everyting works in it. like the door locks dont work from the inside, and dont work at all on one of the back doors. they only work fully on the drivers door and the passenger door. but its ok because it has radio and power windows (that are mad slow) and its a nice color and the dents and chipping paint and rust make it look vintage-y. and again, its MINE and my pride and joy. i dont want a new car for a while. and i def want another honda, maybe an accord. or maybe a big ass truck hahaha.
i am turning 21 in twenty days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant wait. i am gonna wake up and have a mimosa for breakfast. then go buy some alcohol from a liquor store with my license that will finally say im 21. then i will go to happy hour at multiple bars. then i willc ome home for dinner, and have a drink with dinner. or 5. and then bar hopping allllll night!!!!!!!!!!!! i just cant wait to go to a restaraunt and order their delicious looking fruity drinks that always sound so yummy and look so pretty on the menus!!

i'm a regular
soo for those of you who attend fredonia state university, you know how awesome the on campus starbucks is. they have drinks as well as breakfast sandwiches and regular sandwiches and pastries and salads and healthy juice and all that jazz. well, i'm a regular at starbucks. and i usually get the same thing. on the weekends and occasionally after morning classes, i get a turkey bacon and egg white breakfast sandwich and an iced black tea lemonade, grande, sweetened, with light ice (if its warmish) or a peppermint mocha (from november to january) or a raspberry mocha after february. very rarely do i switch it up and get a caramel macchiato with extra caramel. and in the spring and summer, sometimes i opt for a java chip frappacino, double blended, instead of my usual black tea lemonade. and i am so predictable that all the cashiers know me by name. when i tell them what i want (they write your name on your cup or sandwich bag) the girls who have been working there forever always write sam before i even have to tell them i'm sam. its great. and i've never had a messed up drink order, either. great, fast service at this starbucks and as always, great drinks and food. its just funny that not only does one of the cashiers know me, but at least 6 of them start to write my drink order and my name on te cup before im done ordering what i want lol

the value of alone time
so i'm back. and i'm going stir crazy a little bit. for one thing, the frigid weather and SNOW came back. yea, not good. and of course right after i cleaned my uggs off...ugh. story of my life. but honestly i am suffering from a lack of solitude. it seems like no matter what i try to do i can never have my alone time. i live with other girls and even tho a lot of my friends go home for the weekend, i never get to. i am always surrounded by people. if i go to the fast food place and i clearly appear to be just grabbing something to go, i always run into people i know and get suckered into hanging out for 4 hours and lose track of what it was i wanted to accomplish in the first place. i'm not anti-social, but im getting sick of being surrounded by SOO many people 24/7. the ra's come in for rounds, ok. thats their job and they're nice. my suitemates are nice and so is my roomie. i love all my friends...but i also love my solitude. i just need the room to myself sometimes to watch tv alone or write in my book or read a magazine. i like to watch a movie without interruptions or questions or comments on how thats not realistic for ONCE. i really dont like when people talk during a tv show or a movie. even if i've seen it a million times, this is NOT the time for you to get into an in-depth convo with someone!!! shut up!!! we watch a movie for a reason--to hear the dialogue and see the action. not to hear your dumb comments. keep them to commercials or shut it!
sorry i've been stressed this week...can't wait for spring break (less than 3 weeks) and for my 21st birthday (less than a month) and just for this entire semester to be over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok. enough of my blabbing and complaining.

a national blue ribbon school of excellence...
well as i'm sure my long islanders know, this morning my high school vice-principal Gerald Waldman was arrested for stealing over $100,000 from the school to pay his personal expenses. While i think this is awful (and TOTALLY explains why the chairs and textbooks were from the 50s and barely staying together) i feel sympathy. I feel awful for the stdents who go there now; how must that feel to be in that enviornment where now you cant even trust the adults around you? I feel bad for our principal Mrs Debra Ledowski, who must be dealing with a ton of crap right now. Poor Deb, like she doesnt have enough to deal with. Poor staff, now i'm sure everyone's going to be under tighter surveillance when dealing with any amount of money.
i honestly cant believe this happened...the guy was a sweet old man. funny, nice, and he had a style that can only be described positively. sure, he may have yelled at me once or twice for wearing tank tops with spaghetti straps (we had to have straps at least 1 inch wide and i got called to the principals office just about every year for breaking this stupid rule), but honestly the guy was just following protocol. i never blamed teachers for reprimanding me when i deserved it. and i got away with so much crap anyway haha; the Deb impressions, writing on certain peoples' lockers, the many senior pranks during locker clean up hahahaha the list goes on and on.
this guy was funny, too. he walked with a swagga, he danced like a teenager at our senior awards dance and even tried his hand at DJ-ing at prom. he was almost like an authority figure that was more of a friend. some of the teachers at sewanhaka may have been just regular teachers but some of them were really kind and reached out to the students. i felt like mr waldman and the vice principal before him, mr farina, were just like that. although mr farina yelled at me a lot more for the dress code more haha.
but honestly, mr waldman looked smarter than that. why he would need to steal money at all, let alone the amount that he embezzled. i just feel bad and its kind of horrible that sewanhaka faculty has been getting bad press the last few years. an art teacher was also fired a few years back for unsavory circumstances and he was one of my favorite teachers. i had him for ap art history and the guy was awesome--had a great, sarcastic sense of humor and always joked with us when the 6 of us in the class giggled at the naked statues we had to study. he taught me more about art than i learned in my college level course, and he was a harsh grader so he made sure we all studied our butts off.
it just seems like nice people have been doing stupid things lately that cost them notonly their jobs, but their lives and reputations. somethings wrong when good people turn to crime, and its really, really sad.

breaking news! and patricia's shout-out
SOO for all of you who don't live in western new york...something crazy is happening! global warming must be real because it is currently 58 degree soutside!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG no way!! But legit, it is that warm outside. so nice, in fact, that i was able to wear light sweat pants that are very very thin and my juicy jacket and tank. and thats it! no winter jacket, no scarf, no stupid mittens without fingers (haha..sorry mom but they just dont cut it when there's 4 feet of snow), and no uggs! yep, its officially sneaker weather again. hopefully this soon turns to flip flop weather because i have some really cute sandals that i cant wait to break out.
PLUS its sunny...aka goodbye snow slush and gross dirty ice that has lined the sidewalks of this campus since the semester started. and while it is supposed to go down to 50 tonight it will also rain, hopefully driving out the last of the remaining slush. i cant wait for it to be gone!!! i am soo sick of winter its ridiculous. i definitely am suffering from that winter depression thingy SAD because ive just been so bored and haven't wanted to do anything at all since the semester began. so this sunshine adn warm weather is definitely a good thing not just because it means no more wiping out on the walk to class haha.
allrighty then... time for a hall council agenda meeting then relaxing then homework and such..
also here is my shoutout to patricia holliday:
i love her even though she can be quite annoying
she is quite fashionable and shops at forever 21 frequently
she may attend st johns, but she is just a freshman so she is NOT college...haha
shes addicted to her blackberry
she went to rome and pretty much all her friends rejoiced hahah sorry i had to mention that!
she is secretly in love with big daddy D =)
her swim students constantly wish injury upon her, or push her and her dry towel in the pool every class
she was voted worst wsi at the pool
she is addicted to arnold palmers, so dont ever touch hers or it will be bad
she totaled her car and the footage was caught on frosty's security camera...and proof is on mike falco's flash drive and my laptop!!
if she threatens to hurt you, it means she likes you
she also loves my cat sprinkles/tinkerbell
she refused to decorate her team SSPAMMM shirt the way we all did, so we ruined hers by splatter painting it and smudging all that she drew on it
she should be a cop becuse she always drives like she's chasing after a criminal or something
she and i share a love for dunkin donuts iced coffee...omg now i want some
i miss that we cant park our honda accords next to each other at work anymore =/ rip hers, and rip my job there haha
once she got a facebook she was addicted to it within the week
we prank called a certain someone while he was at a certain pool during certain post season hours hahaha
we gonna party it up nextime im homee!!!
love you patricia...im sorry i cant help but ridicule you, its too easy!! and i really love you <3

to tan or not to tan?
sooo the debate over indoor tanning is raging this week. once again, the local tanning bed place is offering its free tan week. you literally walk in, choose how long you wanna go in for, and tan fo' free. its kind of awesome and since i only go once a year for the free week, i dont feel like its too bad for me. i know it causes skin cancer, premature aging, and other crap...but honestly that stuff really only applies to people who go DAILY or every 3 days or so. that is HORRIBLE. and i saw a bunch of those people today..so gross! som were orange, some were brown and leathery, some just were so wrinkly it looked unnatural.
i would never go to that extent--honestly, a nice tan isnt worth all the wrinkles or looking like snooki. there's a limit..but its hard when studies show that tanning indoors is actually addicting. lots of people say that during and right after tanning, they feel peaceful and content. i agree; its theraputic to lay in the bed and just get warm for a few minutes (i never go for more than 7 minutes...or else i'd come out looking like a lobster and be just as cranky as one). its just relaxing.
i can see how some people get easily addicted to that feeling. some scientists even say that theraputic "high" you get from indoor tanning can be healthy--it can reverse the winter depression people get, and also ups your intake of Vitamin D, which is very good for ya. so basically, tanning is very very small doses isnt as terrible as people make it seem.
so what do you guys think..anyone agree/disagree/wanna share tanning stories?
like...the first time i went i panicked because i thought i was going to get trapped inside and die by frying to death like in thatf inal destination movie. so i left one hand out so i could free myself if necessary! haha.
until next post,

happy valentine's day!!!
soo today is valentine's day. a wonderful day for couples and singles alike. i've always liked this holiday, even when i was single. actually, i think i liked it more when i was single. for one, i didnt have to get anyone anything. also, i could be anyone's valentine. but i definitely prefer this now, this having a man on heart's day! I got some beautiful tulips in the mail from him today and they are red and pink and purple and soo pretty! and they smell so nicee. he also has a part 2 for me for when i get home... i really dont know what it could be so im super excited! i got him a few things..and some yummy treats thrown on top. its not valentine's day without sugar and chocolate!
for singles on this holiday, you NEED to not be bitter! i know there is a ton of PDA. and yea, sometimes its annoying. im doing a long distance relationship so it does suck to see everyone hold hands and kiss and walk together when i can't do that for another month, and i can only do it 4 times a year and over the summer. it really sucks. but think of the positives--you can be ANYONE's valentine! you can kiss whoever you want tonight! you get to wear pink and red and pig out on chocolate without feeling guilty afterwards. maybe your roomie or professor or friends or parents will give you candy or send you a cute card. my mom and dad sent the cutest one that i got the other day. its nice to just get a pretty card on holidays. plus it decorates my walls haha.
soo go out and enjoy your day--eat cookies and wear pretty pinks and be nice to everyone and go find a cute guy (or girl) to be your valentine!
spread the love, people

do work!
soo today i went to the SUNYAC swimming&diving championships in buffalo to see my team. they did amazingggg, as expected! it was nice to see everyone looking so motivated and so pumped to swim and dive today. the swimmers had prelims this morning and right now they're doing the consolation finals and actual finals. and fredonia has a ton of swimmers in both! yayyyyy blue devils =)
the divers' setup is a little different. the consolation finals are done, they happened this afternoon. so those divers can relax and enjoy the events tonight. the finalists did 3 out of their 6 final dives this afternoon and right now they are dong their last 3. the men's side got interesting today because the guys in 1st 2nd and 3rd place were literally less than a point away from each other. like legit, they were mere tenths of a point away from each other. it could be anyone's meet tonight. the girls side was a little more spread out but i know our girls (fredoni has 4 out of 8 finalists haha so tons of points will get awarded regardless of places). im so proud of all the hard working athletes and coaches!
it was kind of bittersweet to see everyone too...made me realize this year was the year my family and boyfriend might have come to see me dive at champs. but honestly i dont mind not having that pressure. and its great that im still part of the team by anouncing for swimming and diving events at the home meets. it was cool to talk to coach crawford--he gave me a huge hug and called me "ms blogger" haha guess someone told him about this! well thats good because it means he's reading =) he also asked if i was being healthy and staying fit. i said yes, told him i was working out at the gym and then showed him my gigantic biceps. ok..they're not that gigantic (at all) but he looked impressed. and then he gave me m&ms! for valentines day, of course.
i also saw tom the official, aka my favorite official ever. he's such a sweet old man and he reminds me of my grandfathers and he was absolutely overjoyed to see me today! he gave me a huge hug hello (and goodbye) and we chatted about school and announcing and general meet things. and then i teased him when his fone went off during the middle of someone's dive! too funny haha. but he did say he was looking forward to seeing and working with me next year. he and the other official who come to our home meets, bob, told arthr (head swim coach) that they loved when i announce because i have a clear voice and great diction so they can actually understand me when i speak into the mic. and also apparently i can go btwn announcing swimming heats and dives "flawlessly"--their words, not mine haha. but i do love announcing and the officials are so nice that it makes the job really fun. its nice to be appreciated for something you're good at =)
lindsay my roomie drove us to buffalo this morning in the blizzard...and we got into a slight car accident. nothing too big, just skidded off the road because it was snowing so bad we literally couldnt see the exit and kind of sort of hit a smallish pole. but it prevented us from going into a ditch so im kind of glad we hit the pole. plus we're both fine and so is the car. not so much for the pole haha but that's what those things are there for.
sooooo thats about it... good luck to the blue devils, you're all amazing and i know you are all doing amazingly well right now! love themm!

how much longer til spring?
well. so. i got a new phone the other day and i'm finally getting used to it. its a pretty color, midnight blue, and looks like a blackberry. it just doesnt slide up or open so that still confuses me. i keep trying to slide it open to send a message and i forget it doesnt do that. the buttons are tiny but slowly im adjusting to how to use this. i just dont prefer texting anymore, so text if its important but know i might not reply. calling is best, or fb message/chat me. im on during the day usually.
but seriously im getting fed up with this weather. one day its warm (35 or so) and the snow and ice turns to slush. the next day its 8 degrees and everythings frozen again. no one shovels the sidewalks on campus. i want to wear my uggs but i dont want to ruin them so i have to wear rainboots and they are not warm at all. so its either be warm and destroy uggs or be cold and dont destroy uggs. hard decision. also its hard to decide on whether or not layering up is a good idea. some classrooms have much better heat than others, so you dont want to be too layered or else you will sweat. but the cooler classrooms require you to keep a jacket on during class...so again, its annoying. it just NEEDS to be spring!! i'm sick of winter jackets and scarves and slipping in the ice and not wanting to ever emerge from my room because of the sub-zero temperatures. i want to go for walks again at night like i did in september. i want to go to class without a jacket at all, in flip flops and not worry about freezing my toes or wiping out on the walk to class. i want to wear all the cute spring clothes i bought over break!!!
but mostly i just cant wait for spring break because A) long island is warmer than fredonia and B) i will be home and not have to pay for food or share a room or have school for a week and C) i am turning 21 =) YAYYYY!!!! gonna be so awesome. but i want to go out and buy a cute outfit for my birthday and i cant be that cute if it still feels like alaska outside. oh well, maybe this means i'm meant to live in florida or something.
also i want to give a HUGE congrats to ryan for qualifying for diving nationals again!!!! we all believed haha =) kick butt this weekend!
and good luck to all the swimming and diving blue devils at sunyacs, you will all be amazing!!!!
until next post,

arctic adventures
so. my fone was beyond repair. i had to get it fixed or get a new one. so my awesome roomie agreed to take me today. we left our suite at 6...and then the fun began. we had to not only dig her car out of the inches of snow and thick layer of ice that covered her car, but also to dig out the snow under and behind her car. then thank god for jess dosser, she came and helped us. i had gloves with no fingers on them so my fingers were numb almost immediately (it was 12 degrees outside) and lindsay and i had to take turns digging out her car because we shared her gloves. then jess came and we tried to push the car, but we are just two small girls. i called some swimmer friends, and thank the LORD for brian matt and jordan...freaking lifesavers! they helped get the car out and pushed and if it wasnt for them we would still be stuck there. still, it took over an hour to get the car out of the damn snow and ice.
then we got to the phone store and that was a nightmare...not going to bore you with the details but i FINALLY got another fone because we had no upgrades (thanks to my brother who always breaks phones) and the warranty was up. so i got a cheap fone. i plan to buy myself a brand new NICE one in march over spring break, with the money i am making off this blog. this one literally does nothing, you cant lock it so expect butt dials from me, and texting is harder than calculus on this crappy thing. it is a nice color, tho. and thats the only thing i like about it--its midnight blue. and its light as a feather. but i miss my green samsung propel--sooo easy to text and call on! grr..
oh. and i got frostnip on 2 toes. its a less sever form of frostbite and i know thats what it is because i still, 3 hours later, have pins and needles and the skin is still blotchy red and stinging. aka, frostnip symptoms. so yea. greaaaaaaaaaaaat day. thats all, the end. OH and no one ever text me unless its an emergency..texting is just too difficult on this phone. calling is preferable.

can you hear me now?
UGH. my fone just about died. this is awful. and honestly if i was at home it wouldnt be a big dal because the at&t store is so close i could walk there, and they know my family (or at least recognize us) and this could have been solved this afternoon. however, the following things dont work on my samsung propel:
-any buttons
-calling
-recieving calls
-i can get a text but not be able to view open or reply to it
-i can SOMETIMES recieve calls but not hear anyone... but they can hear me
-this afternoon i could view messages but not reply now i cant do anything
-the alarms still work, tho... great
soooo get at me via fb, and someone tell my mom i wasnt ignoring her texts today! and i will borrow a phone to call tomorrow!!
but seriously, thank god im not having internet problems or id be having a fit by now -__-
ahh but seriously this is so annoying. what if something happens at home? what if something really good happens and my internet goes out so i cant even read emails about it or anything? seriously i hope the store in dunkirk doesnt give me problems..i didnt srop it or anything, and everyone says its def the phone being stupid. its a year old, this should NOT be hapening. i dont even use it that much!!!
ahh ok done venting. back to trying to make it magically come back to life! pray for it, or just believe =)

im rooting for either the packers or the steelers
sooo everyone knows the packers play the steelers today. and who am i rooting for? i dont even know.
my brother and dad and boyfriend are rooting for the packers so i'm leaning towards them. especially since at one point i had a nice packers shirt thats now too small, but i used to wear it to high school a lot. on the other hand, my future apartment-mate and my godfather are DIEHARD steelers fans. moreso than the bf, and my dads not a hugh steelers fan but the jets are out so he really has limited options. so idk who to root for. my eyeliner right now is green so maybe its a sign from god? maybe it means im meant to cheer on green bay. but i really like that song "black and yellow" so does that mean my subconscious wants me to want pittsburgh to win? AHHHHHH i dont know who to root for!!!
on another note, i am getting homework done later today in the afternoon when the library is empty because everyone will be at superbowl parties. not me. im not home otherwise id be with friends or my family. but no, no ones having good parties here except maybe the on-campus ones (which are good for the free food). honestly i dont mind, i'll just watch it here alone or with ppl in a dorm somewhere. as long as i get my homework done and relax alone, i'm fine with not paying too close attention to the score of the game.
and i know who i'm rooting for now. i had a revelation. i'm rooting for----

i'm a big kid now!
So. I have made some life changes the past 2 weeks. I have altered my sleeping habits dramatically. Anyone who lived with me last year knew that for me, going to bed early meant sometime before 2am. I was usually up til 4, had class at ten or eleven the next day, and constantly fell asleep or dozed off in class. I napped everyday and slept in til 4 or so on the weekends. It was awful. Now, I am going to bed btwn midnight and 1am. its a big difference--i am actually falling sleep right away and sleeping through the night, for once. I am up at a decent hour and havent fallen asleep in class yet this semester! I havent taken any naps this week and don't plan to (unless i get sick). This is definitely doing me some good.
I have also began to drink a lot more water because I was always getting thirsty and drinking sugary juice or soda which makes it worse. My acne has virtually disappeared since adding a bottle of water a day to my diet and thats sooo awesome! Anyone who knew me in high school knew it was a constant battle with my face to get rid of the acne. Cover-up only hid so much and I didn't hang out if i had a bad breakout. Now I just have to worry about my hair because its in the awkward "im growing out my hair and bangs" stage so its frizzier than usual and for some reason the blonde in it refuses to grow out! i cut all the blonde out this christmas (it gets super blonde in the summer) and yet the blonde remains. I guess i really am destined to be a natural blonde for life.
Also, I ambeing more responsible with my schoolwork. I am doing all the readings on time, participating more i class discussions, and am getting my assignments before dinnertime. very unlike the old me haha. im a procrastinator by nature. i'm also looking into internships and am doing some research on more companies to apply to right now as i write this blog. so i'm being a big kid for once in my life =)
however i am procrastinating a little bit...teen mom 2 is on mtv and i cant help but watch it as i browse the web...and play farmville to distract myself from my big kid duties of being a big kid. hahaha. oh and i have hall council tonight and i actually made the agenda! i usually write it up ten minutes before the meeting lol. im such a great president haha it like has 4 words on it but i know what it means so we're good to go. also anyone living in eisenhower hall--we are having a contest to design our hall t shirt so artists, get on it!!
kk back to reality and doing adult things again...as i watch reno 911!

please pack your knives and go
i love top chef, let me say that. i havent seen every season but i have seen the last few and currently the all stars is on. the episode tonight was pretty cool. fabio is basically a boss, tiffanys my girl and i would love to have either them two or angelo be my personal chef. fabios got the coolest thick italian accent and its hilariossss. this girl antonia, tho, shes soooo annoying. she cries a lot and tonight was an italian challenge and her dish was FRENCH and she won!!!!!!!!!!! ughhh. i hate her. i cant wait for her to be eliminated. she has been on the bottom for every single episode except this, and one other episode. the person who got eliminated tonight was trey...so sad, he looked like the kind of tough but lovable guy you'd want to have your back in a fistfight and then hold your hand during a sad movie. basically a gentle giant black man. too bad, he was mad funny and nice and better than antonia haha. i just cant stand her!!!!!!
i have to eat when i watch top chef because otherwise id get even hungrier and go on a binge eating everything i have in my room. so i ate pretzels and hummus and then some mini chips ahoy cookies. soooo good but with the italian challenge i kinda want some antipasti or penne right now. mmmmm penne alla vodka and chicken parm and garlic bread and everything else yummmyyy! everyone knows i love to eat, and i usually dont share. especially if there are fried oreos and off brand soda present hahaha.
basically anything they make looks amazing so idc what the judges say, im sure id love anything put on a plate for me! so now that trey has packed his knives and left, and i have to wait another week to get one person closer to THE top chef, i shall flip to comedy central and rot my brain from the colbert report and tosh.0 and maybe south park, if i'm lucky. i do love cartman's racial jokes hahaha

....why weathermen are awful
snow-pocalypse, snow-mageddon, we've heard it all and everyone prepared for this supposedly awful winter storm that would leave us all snowed in and in trouble... WELL GUESS WHAT? no snow. NO more SNOW. just ice. everythings frozen over and slippery but the 3 feet of snow we were promised? the scathing winds and sleeting snow? no. none. i had 3 of my 4 classes cancelled but it wasn't a legit snow day. i know some people that had no classes cancelled today because of, yeah, you guessed it--no freaking SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ugh. weathermen...get it right!

snow-pocalypse survival skills
so seeing as tonight and tomorrow i shall be snowed in, i have decided to write a few ways ot survive. most likely we won't make it through this storm, so everyone should prepare their wills just in case. on the off chance that some of us actually do survive this storm of death, here is what to do:
Today:
-stock up on food: non-perishables, like ramen and canned soup and crackers, pretzels, things like that
-get water (i know, its dumb to buy bottles water) or juice or whatever u like to drink
-make sure you have a bunch of blankets and cozy sweatshirts and fuzz socks and all that
-put off doing homework until we're definitely snowed in. why do it now? you'll be stuck inside tomorrow and probably bored since daytime TV is awful. and plus, if we all die, its not like you wasted time doing homework today right?
-get/borrow a book. in case the tv and computers go out, at least you can read to entertain yourself
-do laundry, if we have power. it takes a while and its nice to have warm clothes during freezing weather
-if you're really bored, work out. crunches pushups running in place, stretching...all good to do.
Tomorrow:
-pray that we survive while eating your canned food wrapped in a blanket doing homework
..i doubt we will make it out alive. if we don't, i hope someone can tell Harrison Ford that he is my favorite actor of all time and i have always thought he was good looking even when he got old.
until next post (if there even is one haha)
~sam
ps im totally being sarcastic in case you didnt realize that yet. some people freaking out over this snowstorm is hiarious and im making fun of the mass hysteria, i dont really think anyone's gonna die in this!

snow-mageddon, part 2
so there is apparently yet another winter storm coming this way. i guess its currently wreaking havoc in the midwest right now. i already have a bunch of classes cancelled for this week and i have to say i'm not really happy about it. its soooo boring here sometimes! going to and from class kills time. now, on top of other homework and stuff, i have more stuff to get done. tonight i'm gonna go stock up on ramen and soup and other food so if its really bad tomorrow, i can stay inside all day and be fine.
so i shall be purchasing the following:
chicken ramen (3)
tomato soup (2)
juice bottles (2)
hummus&pretzel combo thingy (2)
saltines (1)
various candy (a lot haha)
NyQuil (1)
DayQuil (1)
--those are because every single time theres a snowstorm my persistent, never-ending cold gets ten times worse wahhhhh
and then i'll get starbucks, of course =)
hopefully the rest of you prepare yourselves accordingly.. get out the flashlights and blankets to bundle up and non perishable goods and books (in case the tv goes out, or just because reading is awesome). maybe it will be a good time to finally clean your dorm, get a jump start on reading for class, or really get to know the people you get snowed in with. hey, this could be kinda fun!
also id like to thank my regular readers for going to the trouble of not only reading my blog but also clicking me ads for me!! its MUCH appreciated!!
also, jess dosser is pretty awesome =) and she was here when i wrote this and she is a fan of this blog yay!!

dear society
i am really, steadily and steadfastly losing faith in humanity, and this time for different reasons than spoiled little brats. this time it's about self-image.
pick up a magazine--any magazine, preferably one with celebrities or about fashion. do you see many "fat" girls in it? of course not. they're all stick thin, have perfect hair and flawless makeup, and are basically drop dead gorgeous. then they have articles selling the tips on how to be beautiful to the average janes who read the magazines. people start to follow the advice--dieting like crazy, going on juice cleanses or detox's, buying a certain expensive brand of this or that to make your hair shiny like kim kardashians or your face free of blemishes like paris hilton's. want to be as thin as kate moss or vanessa hudgens? gotta hit the gy, hire a personal trainer, and deny yourself all the foods you have grown to love. all for what, ladies? hasn't anyone realized that these people are the ones that are single and unhappy? they try sooo hard to stay "in shape" and be thinner than this starlet or that singer, be prettier than reese wtiherspoon, and striving to be these things makes them unhappy. take a look around you. look at your friends that are like this (everyone has at least one friend like this). are they happy? do their constant crazy vegan or raw vegetable only diets make them happy? and now look at your other friends--the ones who are of average weight and don't follow every trned or craze. the people who are happy to stay in on a friday night eating pizza and junk food, watching movies with their friends. they're happy! for goodness sake... why would you want to be labeled perfect or beautiful and be miserable when you could be a few pounds heavier and much much happier??
i'm not against working out, especially if you're obese; by all means, try to get healthy. but dont overdo it girls. its definitely not worth it. i dont know how to do my hair and sometimes it bothers me but usually im like eh, whatever--i guess it'll look messy and frizzy again today. and i have good days, usually. i dress semi-nicely for class and am going swimming 3 times a week just to stay in shape. i drink water whe i remember (which isnt often) and stay away too much starbucks, but i'm not crazy with this crap. i'm happy the way i am and i have lots of friends who stick by me and a boyfriend who loves me and family that supports anything i do.
its jsutnot fair that society dictates that we can only be pretty if we are super thin. and its not fair that if a thin girl gains a few pounds, everyone starts gossipping. or if an average girl loses a good amount of weight because she cuts the binge drinking everyone assumes she's anorexic. its not fair, so this is my message to you all--stop being judgmental about people's weight!!!
and besides--the stick thin girls just look gross. and what guy wants to date a girl who looks like a light breeze could snap her in half?

pick up a magazine--any magazine, preferably one with celebrities or about fashion. do you see many "fat" girls in it? of course not. they're all stick thin, have perfect hair and flawless makeup, and are basically drop dead gorgeous. then they have articles selling the tips on how to be beautiful to the average janes who read the magazines. people start to follow the advice--dieting like crazy, going on juice cleanses or detox's, buying a certain expensive brand of this or that to make your hair shiny like kim kardashians or your face free of blemishes like paris hilton's. want to be as thin as kate moss or vanessa hudgens? gotta hit the gy, hire a personal trainer, and deny yourself all the foods you have grown to love. all for what, ladies? hasn't anyone realized that these people are the ones that are single and unhappy? they try sooo hard to stay "in shape" and be thinner than this starlet or that singer, be prettier than reese wtiherspoon, and striving to be these things makes them unhappy. take a look around you. look at your friends that are like this (everyone has at least one friend like this). are they happy? do their constant crazy vegan or raw vegetable only diets make them happy? and now look at your other friends--the ones who are of average weight and don't follow every trned or craze. the people who are happy to stay in on a friday night eating pizza and junk food, watching movies with their friends. they're happy! for goodness sake... why would you want to be labeled perfect or beautiful and be miserable when you could be a few pounds heavier and much much happier??
i'm not against working out, especially if you're obese; by all means, try to get healthy. but dont overdo it girls. its definitely not worth it. i dont know how to do my hair and sometimes it bothers me but usually im like eh, whatever--i guess it'll look messy and frizzy again today. and i have good days, usually. i dress semi-nicely for class and am going swimming 3 times a week just to stay in shape. i drink water whe i remember (which isnt often) and stay away too much starbucks, but i'm not crazy with this crap. i'm happy the way i am and i have lots of friends who stick by me and a boyfriend who loves me and family that supports anything i do.
its jsutnot fair that society dictates that we can only be pretty if we are super thin. and its not fair that if a thin girl gains a few pounds, everyone starts gossipping. or if an average girl loses a good amount of weight because she cuts the binge drinking everyone assumes she's anorexic. its not fair, so this is my message to you all--stop being judgmental about people's weight!!!
and besides--the stick thin girls just look gross. and what guy wants to date a girl who looks like a light breeze could snap her in half?

once a pink panther, always a pink panther
this is about my high school swim team, the SCHSD pink panthers. i was a diver, to clarify--yes swimming and diving are combined on one team. and i was the only constant diver we ever had. occasionally we would have someone try diving for a year but they either went back to swimming, gymnastics, or other sports. i loved diving for the panthers--those girls were the best!! we had the best cheers, the best HOT PINK bathing suits and sweats, and the best desserts after the meets, courtesy of grace and laura's dad who is by far the best baker in the world.
it was fun because even if we lost we had a great time; the bus rides were great because for a fe years someone brought their boom box thing and blasted music that we all sang along to.. if we passed a bus of boys (soccer players, almost always) we opened the window and flirted or wrote our numbers on notebooks for them (i dont condone this any longer with the amount of creepers out there), and it was just always a blast.
this is also how i met annemarie, and lo and behold we ended up working together for two summers at the same pool. this is also her shoutout. she is a great swimmer and has been on the team since 7th grade, like me. she and i both love vera bradley bags, fashion especially shopping at forever 21, and teaching swimming lessons and the best class ever--ADULT lessons!!! those are the best classes, honestly. she and i taught it with falco (see his shoutout for more details). on the last day of lessons we took our adults down the water slide and... we put a fish in a gatorade bottle, closed it, and took that fish in the pool. it went down the slide off the diving board and it floated on a kickboard too. it was awesome.
we also did something simultaneously at 7:22, about halfway thru our last adult lesson class, that will not be mentione here but will never be forgotten. hahahahahhahaaaaa!
annemarie is awesome and recently us and our work friends got together one night and watched armageddon. she had never seen it; i had. i still cried at the end. bawling is more accurate. she, however, sobbed and it would have been funny if i wasn't crying also. so we are cry buddies now. teeheehee
she is very fashion-forward, always perfectly accessorized and matching and has tasteful makeup (unlike some of our friends who dress like homeless people...hahaha jk).
on new years eve she and i both wore awesome sparkly shirts haha <3
she has never crashed/totaled/scratched a car. that doesnt go for all of our friends =)
she requested a shoutout better than falco's and since this is in narrative form rather than list form i hope it constitutes as "better" because i took more time in writing and planning it out for her.
basically, annemarie is awesome!! oh and i lvoeher dog, Tux, and her bunny marc jacobss =)\

paranormal activity, college edition
as some of you might know, i firmly believe my dorm is haunted. and by dorm i mean our common room (living area, with a tv, fridges, microwave, couch and tables) is haunted. my bedroom and my suitemates bedroom seem fine. but last semester i would be in the common room on the fone or watching tv at night, the last one up, and id hear noises. at first it hought it was regular noises; the heat creaking on, normal bathroom sounds of the faucet, people in other rooms making noises, etc. but then i would hear the microwave door open and lo and behold when i looked at it, it was closed. i thought it was just my imagination until the noises started happening at frequent intervals.
then one night last semester i heard a sound in my room, right after i had laid down to sleep. it could have been something falling off my dresser, but in the morning there was no evidence that anything physical had happened. weird.
when this semester began i had convinced myself it was all just normal noises. the first few nights were blissfully quiet. then 2 nights ago i heard microwave door opening sounds and even the sound of the fridge being opened or moved or something. i was telling my roommate and suitemates about it last night and decided to show them how loud it actually was and that i wasn't crazy.
they were in my room. i got up and closed my door behind me. it was silent in our suite and i opened the door of the microwave. then i closed it shut, and they started screaming.
apparently when i shut the mucrowave door, something from my roommate's top shelf fell off. it could have hit her! i think the "ghost" or whatever is haunting our suite wasn't happy that they don't take it seriously. it was a physical manifestation and i think it was just wayyy too coincedental that the thing fell at theexact moment i closed the microwave door. weirddd...
anyway i'm not crazy! and it's probably nothing abnormal but i thought people might like to know about the paranormal activity that goes down in suite 103

call me madam president
soo tonight is the first hall council meeting of the spring semester. i am, of course, the president of my dorm. its an awesome position to hold because basically i control everything. if we want to make a decision i get to be the one who says "all in favor?" and "meeting adjourned" and "motion to select____" and other cool presidential catch phrases like that. we get to do community service (a lovely addition to any resume) and cool activities for little siblings weekend. i soooo wish my bf's little cousins could come, the 3 of them would have a blastt! last year we did face painting and cookie decorating (i was VP) and this year its better. we are doing an egg toss aka you have to design some way for your raw egg to be dropped form 2 stories (into a trahs can) and not have it crack. you can design a parachute, pack it into a styrofoam cup, etc. gonna be sweeeeeeeeeet.
also as president i get to oversee how our budget is spent. basically when we have to buy food for events i make sure its food i like and soda i will drink. generally NO ONE but hall council members and 3 other people show up so if we're gonna have a ton of food for 10 people it might as well be food i like. i am after all president.
i am also a very unorganized president..i rarely have an agenda and tend to just wing it at the meetings. my favorite part is telling everyone to shut up when side conversations get us off track. no one wants to be in a meeting more than ten minutes, especially the RA's lol. but oh well--part of being President is being able to think on your feet. obviously i'm doing that since everyone on hall council says they enjoy our meetings.
anywayss i shall now go and relax and watch comedy central until its time for our meeting. and then start planning the shout-outs to the people who want them teeheehee =)

aaand 3..2..1..GO!
for homework due friday, my professor for intermediate fiction writing assigned us this seemingly impossible task: write a short story, in less than 200 characters (inc. punctuation and spaces) that has a charatcter(s), tension, and seems to really be a complete story.
these are some examples i threw out before i kept the one i'm handing in:
-once upon a time there was a girl in a college english class with a lot of stupid homework. she didn't do it. nothing happened to her. the end.
-once upon a time a boy wrote what he thought was an incredibly awesome poem, only to be told it was awful by his mom. he cried for the rest of his life.
-today, jack won the lottery. tomorrow will be the worst day of his life.
-the zombies invaded america today, wrote allie in her journal. i don't know if they got to the rest of the world yet, but i can't call long distance anymore. guess they got to ireland too.
-sprinkles was a fat cat who lived in a nice house with nice people. they fed her (too much) let her have toys and occasionally make fun of her when she steps in wet paint. she is kind of dumb. poor sprinkles.
hahahah. the one i really wrote was 24 words about the end of the world and its good but im not putting it here because i dont want anyone to steal it, pass it off as their own, and make millions of $$$ off of my incredibly amazing story =) jkkk

the life and times of michael falco
so my friend from work mike falco has asked for a blog shoutout. i will tell you everything i know about him and how i have gotten to know him in the past few years.
-we taught adult swim together last summer, along with annemarie...and now refer to money as Brenda Buck$ thanks to the lovely Brenda who took the class 3 times
-he gave me a Shake Weight for christmas with a tag that said "you're a strong and independant young woman"
-his mom makes the BEST fried oreos!!
-he came over for my family movie night when my family watched 'inception' and tried to help me and my brother explain the movie to my mom who undersood almost nothing... we were all also in our pj's and looked horrible, and we didnt really expect him to show up
-he saved a hilarious video of a friend's car accident on his falsh drive and put it on my computer on said movie night and itsby far thebest video i've ever seen...sorry patrish, i had to see it
-he once worked for 27 straight days at the pool and got a lil party to celebrate it
-he's American, and damn proud of it
-i put a cheeto in his christmas gift (fish in a bottle) and i think it killed one of them..sorry haha
-we were on the WINNING team for the staff scavenger hunt last year, team SSPAMMM, we dominated, and he was the legit captain because he drove us in the swagga' wagon
-my parents absolutely adore him, and its funny because i only met his mom once or twice but apparently she loves me too..yay!
i would write about patricia but all she does is drink arnold palmer's and total cars. she did have an awesome honda accord and we had matching cars..until she plowed an SUV hahahah she's gonna kill me for this and i'll probably have to edit this paragraph out later but i do love her even tho she's addicted to her blackberry and is mean to annemarieee
oh and mike falco started calling my cat tinkerbell by the name of sprinkles, and my dad started to call it sprinkles over break. and he was there when she ran in blue paint and had a blue paw for a night lmao
until next post,
~sam
ps if u want a shoutout i will gladly write one =)

if i had a million dollar$
so i was thinking of all the things i would buy if i had a million dollars. here is an incomplete list. and its all legit i would really try to buy all these things
-a porsche 911, in black or silver
-louis vuitton luggage
-a bunch of coach and vera bradley bags so i would never have to worry about matching a bag to my outfit again
-juicy couture tracksuits in various colors
-a tank of exotic fish, maybe even rays (not the stinging kind) because they're cute
-a shark tank
-buy my parents a house in a climate they actually enjoy
-pay off my, my brothers, and my boyfriends college tuition/loans
-hire someone to get me starbucks everyday..because its too expensive to get it everyday unless you're rich
-make a month be "sam history month" idk which month yet
-my birthday would become a national holiday
-shut down a certain pool in a certain town
-donate money to funding cancer in memory of my family members who endured it
-buy a Greek island, and make it private
-make it illegal for patricia holliday to have a drivers license or say the phrase "im so college" ever again
-hire mrs falco to make me fried oreos whenever i want...aka all the time
-make lindsay lohan go away, not be "taken care of" but be locked away forever in a shack in a third world country so she can stop ruining america
-pay for my dream wedding to my dream man <3. and i swear that would be th nicest wedding...move over prince william and kate, mine would be better
-hire a hair stylist..im HOPELESS at doing my hair
-buy a nail salon exclusively for me and my mom, so we never have to wait for an opening or for the girl we like to do our nails, and it will have all the colors of nail polish we like and the people working there will only speak english so they cant talk sh*t about us in korean
-and i'd buy barnes&noble so i could always have access to books =)
and im sure there's more id buy, will add at a later date

my tuesdays are gonna be SWEET!
so my monday wednesday and fridays are gonna be annoying this semester because i start class at ten am and am not done til 4. of course i have breaks in between but with the negative temperatures outside im stuck hanging out in the library or coffee shop btwn classes to kill time. thankfully, my tuesdays and thursdays are awesome because i only have one class and its from 12:30 til 2. so i can sleep in and im done early afternoon. and after 2 is perfect nap time haha.
the class i had today was this awesome greek history class, with a professor i had freshman year. he's a great teacher and i know the way he grades and he only has a midterm and final exam, and 2 papers during the semester. the participation is a big part of the grade but im talkative so i'm fine. and HE REMEMBERED ME!!! he remembered my name and said hi when he took roll. thank god, because this professor likes when you're smart and talk in class. i do both. today no one would answer a few basic questions. he asked who gave the ancient greeks the alphabet and i knew it was the phoenicians. i didnt say anything yet, figuring id let someone else answer. either everyone else is braindead, or too scared to talk, because about thirty seconds went by of complete silence. i finally said the answer and the professor was all excited haha. im a nerd for history, especially greek history.
i also bought all my textbooks and notebooks and went grocery shopping. i feel like such an adult haha. i even got up early today to shower, do my hair&makeup and pick out a nice outfit for school today. soo responsible! haha
k gonna go write my short story for my fiction class tomorrow then watch last weeks tenn mom 2 to get ready for the new episode tonight!! yayyy teen mom 2.. such a guilty pleasure. so is extreme couponing ahahaa
until next time,

first day of school!
so its the first day of classes for the spring semester (ironic, since it's negative 12 right now) and it's going swell so far. had intermediate poetry at ten, black women writers at 11, literary publishing at 1 and then i have intermediate fiction at 3. and three of those classes are with the same professor lol. its good because he'll get to know me and know i'm a hard worker. its bad because i can't ever just skip a morning class because i'm tired.
normally in my breaks between classes i go back to my room but its literally so cold outside that we have an advisory ("stay inside unless it's absolutely necessary for you to go outside, and if you do please wear apropriate apparel" oh ok thanks, i didnt know that already). so im in the library enjoying the internet for a while before i venture back outside into the tundra for my last class of the day. and even though my MWF days suck, tuesdays and thursdays are nice because i only have one class and its from 12:30 til 2. so i can sleep in, and im done early. cha-ching!!
anyways..i farmed a little. i play farmville on facebook..kinda sad, i know, but im addicted and its the only game im addicted to really. virtual game, at least. board games i love and im very good at them. some people would say thats because i cheat/steal cards/place the dice to the number i want it to show when no ones looking/steal money or property cards, etc. but im good because i strategize, make alliances, and have a plethora of usuless trivia knowledge at my disposal.
anyways, i am already weighing the ups and downs of being back at campus. the ups are: starbucks conveniently located, free magazines (thanks to my fredcard debit funds), no cats to knock my stuff off my dresser. the downs are: its FREEZING, there's ice everywhere, theres too much snow, i miss my cats, i miss not having class, i cant sleep in all the time, i dont have my boyfriend or long island friends here, the food isnt that great, and i dont have access to a car. oh and the internet doesnt always work in my room. oh and its FRIGID all the time!!!!!!!
ok enough complaining...back to farming, then back to the building for my last class of the day. intermediate fiction writing woooot!
until next time,

is this alaska?
back to school...the train ride up here to lovely western new york made upstate look like the arctic tundra. all the flat land was snow covered, as were the trees and i seriously thought i was in alaska for a while. doesnt help that the temperature is in the single digits..NOT including wind chill. gonna be one hell of a semester. i'll survive unless i freeze to death!!!!!
first day of class tomorrow. layering up to prevent hypothermia. hope the dog sled doesnt leave without me because i dont know if i can walk in this blizzard.
until tomorrow, if we get that far!

farewell long island
my fellow islanders... i bid thee a very fond farewell, for i must be going now.
back to college, that is. i am so mixed..on the one hand, i have my boyfriend here at home whom i love so much its crazy. he's a wonderful guy and treats me so well and hangs out with my family and everything. not seeing him for weeks on end really REALLY blows and the few times a year i get to come home i like to make the most out of it. it seems like these 5 weeks really just flew by!! its so not fair. and what kills me is most people get to see their significant others everyday and have awful relationships, full of cheating and lying and fighting. its ironic that i found my soulmate and only get to see him for thanksgiving, xmas, and spring break (summers too thank god!) and the occasional weekend he visits, if he can get off from work and school and if i dont have a million projects to do that weekend and if we can find someone willing to get him from buffalo and bring him to campus.. a million what ifs. it sucks. he left just a half hour ago and i miss him like crazy already. thank god we have skype and unlimited texting, otherwise id go crazy. but at least i can hear his voice and see his face when im almost 9 hours away.
i'll also miss my insanely comfy bed...my own room...my library...my cats (ha..sorta) and good home cooked food. plus the DVR its so nice to have it here. i'll miss long island bagels and long island pizza and long island coffee, long island fast food late night runs, long island adventures with my long island friends..long island weather (but not this winter, it was colder here than upstate i think). i'll basically miss long island. even the traffic, even the rude drivers and even having to do more laundry, dishes, and cleaning of the room than i ever have to do at school.
i'm glad to see my friends again, and my suitemates and roommate, they're great girls. and the swim team of course :) i'll be happy to not get yelled at for staying up late to watch the teen mom 2 reruns at 2am, and being able to basically get free starbucks and magazines, courtesy of my FredCard and all points meal plan! yayyy for mochas and breakfast sandwiches 24/7 again.
but again, i'll miss being woken up to a cup of tea all ready brewed for me by my dad, and the daily papers left by my chair (dad reads them hours before i emerge from my slumber haha). i'll miss having the house to myself from 1pm when dad lays down for his nap til 3 and 4 when kevin and my mom come home from school. thats my "me time" and its a blessing to have it. i'll miss my mom cracking up at my brother's imitations of his teachers, etc. and her treating me to getting my nails done as a reward for doing her a huge favor this past year haha. i'll even miss kevin, for as annoying as he can be, he's hilarious and we always have a ton of new funny youtube vids to show each other whenever im home for a break. btw, check out my bf's channel on youtube, under "diglio" and for some food-related laughs, search "epic mealtime"...so funny!
honestly..this semester will be good. i'm taking great classes, applying for the internship!!! YAY!! (details later this week) and turning 21!!!!!!!!!!!! hell yea! but who's gonna take care of the cats for me? no one inmy house likes poor pippin because she likes to cuddle too much, and tink kinda smells and im the only one who lets her sit on my lap.. those poor kitties. i hope they dont miss me too much. and harry even started to like me for the first time ever..now all the progress we made is shot to shit, as they say. he wont remember me when im back in march and he'll hate me again as usal lol.
i really am gonna miss my parents brother friends and mike more than any of the other good stuff long island has to offer. its the people you surround yourself with that makes life fun and awesome. i cant wait til its spring break and im home for a week in march!!!
ok time for bed, i have a long ass train ride ahead of me tomorrow!!
until next post =)

cats on crack..i mean catnip
hey comrades... ok. so cats. for those of u who dont know, i have 3. we adopted two (sisters) from a shelter in christmas of 2007. they are pippin (yea from lord of the rings lol) and tinkerbell. i named tink. then in october of 07 we found this tiny white kitten meowing pitifully outside our window and my mo took it in and when i came home from school i saw the cutest little kitty who would be harry (after harry potter, since they are both orphans) and i fell in love. we had to keep him--i mean this kitten could fit on one hand and was just so precious.
its been a few years, and not much has changed. harry's the general of the house, constantly patrolling the windows of the house so he can hiss at the neighborhood strays. hes also the sweetest cat and cuddles on most peoples laps at any given time. he has some gay traits--he has a very high pitched meow, and he plays with pink hair curlers. touch his hair curler and he'll draw blood. seriously. the best is if you put one in your pocket so it sticks out a little bit; he'll jump up and hit it with his paw til it falls on the ground, and then he picks it up in his mouth and runs away with it. he also harasses the other cats and likes to jump on them when they're sleeping and then take over their nap spot.
pippins the prettiest, all gray tabby with green eyes. only thing is, shes an attention whore. she has the loudest most annoying meow ever and if you dont stop to pet, feed, or cuddle with her, she lets the whole damn house know about it. other than that shes nice--she sleeps with me every night and its cute, but shes a bed hog.
tink is..special. some of my work friends call her 'sprinkles' after angela's cat on the show the office. shes very interesting. overweight, strangley colored, a deep grunt for a meow and with these HUGE yellow eyes, she indeed looks weird. she often stares at walls or inanimate objects for fun. she usually smells like cat poop and if she sits on your lap she always puts her ass in your face, giving you a lovely wiff of cat butt. when shes not busy smelling bad and staring at you with her huge eyes, shes quite funny. she has a toy football (soft) that she bats around like you wouldnt believe. there might be catnip (crack for cats) in it or something. shes very cuddly also. the funniest things she does are: 1) she has to knock her catfood out of the dish before she eats it, and she eats the pieces one by one; 2) if you annoy her she takes her paw and will hit you. im talking, bitch-slap you. i will tap her back sometimes and the look in her giant eyes is great, because she gets madder and hits you again. 3 minutes later she wants to cuddle..so strange!
anyway im NOT a crazy cat person, but i do love my cats. theyre very funny and do the quirkiest things. pippin prefers to nap in the linen closet, on the towels, sometimes nestled in them. harry stalks the other cats and harasses them, and then tries to cuddle with them later on my bed. tink...anything she does is funny, especially the time she ran on some shirts i was decorating with fabric paint and her back leg, which is white, was bright blue for a few days!
so yea, those are my crazy cats. oh and my dad hates all of them and loves to find new things to do to them that they dislike..like laser guns that make sounds, loud music...its great

you know what really grinds my gears?
so facebook. probably single-handedly responsible for the demise of americans being able to communicate with others in actual settings. but thats not the issue i have with facebook--i have family in england and alabama so facebook allows me to talk to them more often and less expensively than a long distance phone call. well less expensively as in freely since you dont pay for facebook. also when im upstate at school its much easier for me to see how my long island peeps are doing because of the social networking site.
first and formost, facebook leads to fights. lets say someone who likes your man posts something flirty on his wall. you get annoyed, of course. its not his fault but you get mad that he didnt delete it. right there, facebook is affecting your personal life.
thats another thing..what happens when u break up? everyone on fb hears about it, including your mom, your extended family in california, your old high school teachers, your ex's family and all your old acquaintances. hence, it allows creepers to move in and get all flirty with u. plus its negative attention. a public messy facebook breakup for your closest 635 friends to witness is not ideal.
adults on facebook are also interesting. sometimes its fine--my mom has one, and uses it to keep me in check. she goes on occasionally, not obsessively. in the past she has messaged me to remove a certain picture or delete a comment that was offensive and could hurt me in the long run. thats fine. also, like i said above, we have family all over the world, so fb is a easier way to see how everyones doing. i understand if adults are networking for their jobs or using it to stay connected with far away family. but when you get moms or aunts or worse..dads! that go crazy with picture comments, or, still worse...FACEBOOK GAMES..then you have a problem! A girl i know from high school has a boyfriend who travels a lot. he puts up pix of his adventures. ok, thats fine. but his mom and aunt comment on every.single.one. necessary? maybe not.
facebook games..im one to talk because im addicted to farmville (thankfully i kicked the mafia wars addiction last year haha). but when your over the age of, say, 25..get a life! stop playing games, do something with your life. get a hobby, clean your house, upload family pictures or something, but stop publishing to your profile that you go the newest high score in family feud or need help building this horse stable. i play when i need a distraction from college homework, and so do a lot of others. when you have a real job, or at least are old enough to have a real job, its pathetic to still be addicted to zynga games. your an adult and your soooo immature! grow up!!!
i really think everyone should limit their usage of this social networking site. yes, its great to see pictures from when your friends traveled abroad and to congratulate someone when they become an aunt, but really, try to stop with the profile stalking and obsessively checking =)
until next time,

snow-mageddon
wow, long island...just wow. what happened to having mild winters? what happened to having a few inches, max, of snow? what happened to schools closing at the first hint of flurries? why did you have to go all snow-pocalypse on us? we do NOT appreciate three blizzards in one season! is this because we only have two winters left before the world ends in december of 2012? are you preparing us for the inevitable, mother nature? cause id really appreciate it if you rewarded us with mild winters and less heat waves in the summers instead of catastrophic extremes.
anyway this snow now is supposedly turning into sleet or rain tomorrow. really hope so cause rain means its warmer and warmer weather means melting snow. hopefully. im sick of this shit--NO ONE can park on side streets anywhere because the plows did a horrible job for blizzard #1, and when #2 came around the snow was on top of frozen snow, which meant the plows still couldnt remove all the snow. so dumb, mama earth, so dumb.
i need to move to florida or something, but they have hurricanes. the midwest has twisters and tornadoes and crap, and california has earthquakes and is too close to asia. just kidding. but it does have the pacific ocean, which is notorious for whirlpools, rip tides, the largest population of tiger sharks in the world and is rumored to be the home of the mysterious giant squid. haha. so im basically stuck in some sort of extreme weather element wherever i go. ughhhhh.
ok im done ranting about dumb freezing weather and snow.
until the next time i get so worked up about something,

the adventures of sam and friends
thai excursion post! finally! as promisd, i said i would recap my adventures in brooklyn with my black friends last week. rosie, ilunga, tatiana, helen, jen and i were the ones who went.
our reunion was AWESOME! honestly, its been almost 3 years but it feels lke i saw them yesterday. no forced conversation, nothing was awkward, it was sooo nice! i really had missed that crew so it was awesoe to spend several hours with them. the initial trip into brooklyn was fun--they picked me up almost 40 minutes after they had originally planned to...they were SOOO on black people time haha! we got a lil lost but got to "Sea" at around 7. we had to wait because it was mad crowded, but totally worth it. the reataraunt had dim lighting and techno music, very trendy, and had cool decorations inside. a good place for a date, in my opinion. the bar looked nice too, and we all kind of thought about ordering drinks (since it looked like they didnt ID) but we figured we would wait til we're 21. rosie turns 21 the day before i do, so i definitely want to go out with her for our birthdays somewhere.
the appretizers were sooo good--'tup tim fritters' haha funny name, amazing shrimp crab roll thingys that you dipped in a sweet chili sauce of some kind. omg soooo good! then there were chicken wings, and some kind of beef that was dipped in a soy sauce concotion that was also amazing. for my entree i had shrimp pad thai-NOTE: if you have never tried thai food before, i suggest chicken or shrimp pad thai, as it isnt as crazy spicy as some other thai dishes, and is quite delicious.
dessert was incredible!! molten chocolate cake--this warm delicious cake with warm delicious dark chocolate sauce and warm delicious raspberry sauce drizzled over the huge cake. also, you got pistachio ice cream on the side!! together it was something i would request as my last meal if i was on Death Row.
after that i got several text messages form my lifeguard friends, patricia and mike, and they proeeded to follow me to the restaraunt! i thought they were kidding but they really did, and have photographic "evidence" to prove it. they're crazy haha. we sucessfulyl evaded them and went into manhattan, where some dumbass rent-a-cop screamed at rosie for having her brighs on by accident as we came to the midtown tunnel. geez, he needs to get a new job or a hobby cause its not that serious. teenagers can make mistakes, and seriously officer, it WAS that dark where we were in brooklyn. so yes we did need them on.
and then magnolias bakery was closed =/ ive never been, but one day i will! it looked amazing from the outside. the most fun part was going through the midtown tunel playing the music from "inception" haha it was sooo epic!
anyways, the night sadly came to a close a little after 1am, and it was soooooo needed! great to hear who hates who, who's a train wreck, whos still friends, who has a baby, who got kicked out of school, etc. oh and who turned into an even bigger, fatter, uglier bitch! haha in your face you psycho skank! lmao. sorry only the 6 of us kow who im referring to and its staying that way!
anyways, time to shower before i go out...well i gotta pack for school first! leaving in a week =/
until next time!

extreme couponing..not kidding
so before i go into detail about my wonderful thai excursion, please excuse this brief interruption to tell you about how ridiculous some americans are. or maybe they're genius. anyway, these people are called "extreme couponers" and they are so hardcore they make the marines look bad. they research coupons and calculate insane levels of math and pretty much their lives are run by good deals on bulk items. one woman spent over a grand of groceries but only paid $54. pretty good, but she didnt beat this one chick who had $673 of groceries and only spent two bucks. TWO! not even joking. i wish i knew her so she could save me this kind of money, but if she was really smart she'd sell all her free crap and make a ton more money...and then she could go buy some more groceries with the money earned from selling free groceries.
honestly, it really is sacrilege for them to pay full retail price for something. but imagine they paid top dollar for clothes, makeup, cars, etc? that would just be the most ironic thing..mad cheap on food, but lets get some Prada outfits that wont be in style by the summer.
and "my strange addiction" OMG wow..so scary. this chick ate soap and laundry detergent when she was stressed. ok not only is that sick mentally but its disgusting physically..unless her insides are sparkly clean, in which case shes the cleanest person ever. but still, so weird. what if she went out on a date to a nice restaraunt and had to go to the bathroom multiple times to eat the soap there because the date stressed her out? like, for real..i cant even take it seriously. i watched it with my friends and the jokes didnt stop all night.
speaking of my friends, they're a motley crew, and this summer we are planning to spend $500 at a store (to buy pranking supplies) but use coupons and see if we can spend less than ten bucks. if we accomplish this it will be one of the proudest/dumbest things i have ever done in my life. and i will brag about it to my children.
anyway im off to try out the new softsoap my mom got yesterday..watermelon scented, bet it tastes juicy and delicious!
...just kidding
until next time, thats the way sam sees it!

sam <3
until tomorrow,
sam <3
remember when they eat the moroccan food in along came polly?
well, as you can tell from my title, this has something to do with exotic food. i am currently waiting to get picked up by my friends from high school that i havent seen in foreverrr! and we are going out for thai food to some place in brooklyn. ive never actually had thai food, and seeing as i woke up with a stomach ache that never went away this morning, im a little nervous that what happened to the guy in "along came polly" will happen to me.. hope it doesnt! how embarassing, i will post later tonight after im home and let ya know how it went.
im sooo glad im seeing these girls, also.. i miss them! we all got so caught up with school and stuff so we never really had time to go out and catch up since we graduated. they were my "smart friends" aka the black and indian girls in my AP classes in high school. mad cool girls, and every single one of them wrote in my yearbook how i was their "favorite white girl" haha. yes, im white in case you didnt know or dont already know me.
they also told me to be ready at 6pm and its currently 6:14pm. and rosie promised they wouldnt be on "colored people time" as she calls it hahaha! but i knew better. oh well, at least im ready when they get here! got my nice new outfit on that i got for christmas, an abercrombie tank and sweater thingy and my dark skinnies from american eagle. and my new neckelace from forever 21 and a huge glitzy cocktail ring, also from forever 21. i love to accessorize haha. its frigid outside tho so instead of my cute flats or my silver heels, im going with uggs.
allright im probably boring you with my clothing desription... will post later on tonight and recap the evening!

im sooo glad im seeing these girls, also.. i miss them! we all got so caught up with school and stuff so we never really had time to go out and catch up since we graduated. they were my "smart friends" aka the black and indian girls in my AP classes in high school. mad cool girls, and every single one of them wrote in my yearbook how i was their "favorite white girl" haha. yes, im white in case you didnt know or dont already know me.
they also told me to be ready at 6pm and its currently 6:14pm. and rosie promised they wouldnt be on "colored people time" as she calls it hahaha! but i knew better. oh well, at least im ready when they get here! got my nice new outfit on that i got for christmas, an abercrombie tank and sweater thingy and my dark skinnies from american eagle. and my new neckelace from forever 21 and a huge glitzy cocktail ring, also from forever 21. i love to accessorize haha. its frigid outside tho so instead of my cute flats or my silver heels, im going with uggs.
allright im probably boring you with my clothing desription... will post later on tonight and recap the evening!

america runs on dunkin
allrighty then..i am back, people. i never actually left though, so there. haha. i suppose the caffeine got to me because im slightly delirious. i spent yet another night of my life in dunkin donuts, and it was quite enjoyable as always. i had my iced coffee, only 99 cents with the coupon from mom. shes one of the worlds best coupon clippers, and the womn never throws them out even when they expire. one time she used an expired coupon and the salesperson let her use it even though it expired the day before. now she thinks that will happen EVERY time she uses an expired coupon. i take them from her and throw them out secretly so i dont hurt her feelings. but the non-expired ones i always use.
its interesting that dunkin donuts has become a popular hangout for kids at night. theres not a whole lot for kids to do on long island in winter as it is, and when you add that i'm not yet 21 and very few of my friends are, that shortens the list considerably. you can only go to the movies so many tims before you get sick of them, and sick of the ridiculous prices at the box office.
dunkin donuts is a pretty safe place for kids to hang, anyway. almost every night i spend there, a cop or three come in and sit down. im not one of those people who hate cops because they get pulled over for speeding (i have sucessfully talked my way out of a ticket the ONE time i got pulled over and only speed in areas i know cops dont patrol; im not an idiot when it comes to how fast i drive). the kids who hang there always seem normal, and i often run into friends at the 2 i frequent. its nice to go there with my boyfriend mike and we usually sit there for hours, just talking and enjoying our coffee and bagels with creamcheese..chives in my cream cheese is how i like it but every dunkin donuts seems to be out of chive cream cheese or gives me a different flavor by mistake.
its almost 3am, im doing so well on my road to curing my insomnia. oh well. im up early tomorrow to work on my resume for an internship, then a nap, then out to dinner for a high school reunion with some awesome girls i havent seen since graduation!! cant wait for that =)
until next time,

live, from long island its..really late
currently 2:35 am and i have yet t o shut off my laptop or end my convo's im having on facebook.. im so successful at doing the things i say i will, like going to bed at a scent hour =/
is it insomnia? or am i dreaming i cant sleep?
cue the inception soundtrack... i have insomnia, i think. sometimes i wake up (or i dream i wake up, really not sure) several times during the night. sometimes i doze off but the million or so thoughts in my head prevent me from actually sleeping. this has been going on for months and i honestly cannot recall the last time i slept through then night, for more than 2 hours. its awful. i've tried reading, using lavender scented things to relax me, working out hardcore and then taking a hot shower, even resorted to tylenol PM and nyquil to make it stop. nothing helps... im constantly up til 4am or later and sleeping in til past 1pm sometimes.
on another related note, the movie inception has been a topic of discussion around the house lately. i saw it when it came out with some friends and loved it. my brother saw it too, and i got it for him for christmas because he loved it so much. we watched it with my family and my mom was hilarious--she had NO idea what went on, no matter how many times we paused it to explain! by the end she was a little more understanding, but not by much. funny thing is, my dads a lot older than her and he followed it pretty accurately. he only stopped us once to confirm something.
the concept is fascinating, if not realistic; but the realistic part is how far planting a seed in someone's mind can take hold on them. like, from the begininning of elementary school, i was decent at math but it took me a little bit longer to grasp concepts. people like my peers and teachers said "she's not a math person" and i started to believe it. fast forward a few grades, and i was ecstatic to get a 65% (lowest passing grade) on the Math B regents. hearing that i wasnt a math person made me think i wasnt one and could never be one. that phrase, that idea, took hold of me. think about that the next time you want to belittle someone who's struggling with stuff.
anyway, these blogs are so random haha i have no idea what direction to take them in. i guess i'll just blog about whatever i feel like every day and see if any thread develops. i just like writing here because it helps me hone my skill for writing anything thats not poetry. believe me, i dont need help writing poetry--i am more than capable of writing good poetry that will be published on my own. my fiction is crap, my short stories weak, and my thoughts are quite scattered. the only thing besides poetry that doesnt need help is my prose, which is an in between of poetry and fiction. also my inner monologue that's constantly running through my head isnt too shabby.. its actually kind of funny. my inner voice is incedibly sarcastic and cynical, even if im not always like that.
alllllrighty then, seeing as its 2am and my insomnia is kicking in (come on, tylenol PM, its been ten minutes please please kick in!!) im going to TRY to go to sleep..early. yea, this is early for me haha.
goodnight bloggers, until next time!

let it snow..but then plow it please!
i like when it snows, i really do..but i liked it better when it meant i had a day off from school. now that i (or my friends) have to drive everywhere and a drive a decent distance to see my friends, im starting to hate it. i mean, i go to school upstate where there's a TON of snow, from october to april. but they know how to plow the streets near buffalo. here, when long island has the occasional flurries, people panic. now that we're on blizzard numero dos, in 2 weeks, people are ready for another snowpocalypse. its ridiculous, really. 12-15 inches isnt usual for long island, but its not unheard of. and it doesnt mean you should stock up on food--this isn't nazi germany, you dont need to hide out in your basement like there's an air raid going on.
and dear idiots across the state--when you park on the street, it means the snow plows CANNOT plow the whole street. it means they miss huge chunks of snow, that freezes, and then people trying to drive down narrow streets or backing out of driveways can't get anywhere. its inconsiderate--and its hard enough for people to drive on slushy, icy roads. not everyone has 4-wheel drive!
why do so many people park on the streets when it snows? it seems like they all got a letter or something telling them to be as stupid as possible when we have a winter storm warning in effect. they all park their stupid cars in the street, and then park in the driveways a few days later. so we and every other block in the state has icebergs on their streets. its bad enough that the plows from one town only plow the first 10 feet of our block (our street is partially one town, mostly in the next town over) and the other plows come when they feel like it. which is pretty much never. so we're lucky if we even get plowed in the first place, but still--make it so the plows can actually move the snow. seriously, its not that hard.
sorry i complain so much! haha this will soon change, i plan to blog about sports (the ones i did in high school and college) tomorrow as i enjoy the day snowed in.
until next time, enjoy yourselves!

first blog
hi this is my first post! very excited to join the blogging world, as i hope it will make me write everyday and keep up with practicing.. so anyway. i set this up tonight because recently i have been having my doubts with humanity and its downward spiral. i'm not talking about obesity, murder rates, and political strife.. maybe this isn't as important as those issues, but i feel it deserves some light.
children and technology are, quite possible, the WORST mix of two elements. when there are 6 year old girls who have 3 different pairs of Ugg boots, Pandora bracelets (yes, thats plural), the new DS system, a laptop and a cell phone..something's REALLY wrong with our society!! why do they need it all??? i work to earn my spending money, and i've earned by lifeguading, babysitting, teaching private swimming lessons, coaching a swim team, and becoming the new Sports Announcer at my college for the swim meets. it's a lot of time i spend with my odd jobs and the money isnt always great but it's something. and since i got a job at 16 and have never been without one, i know the value of a dollar. i got my first pair of ugg boots last year--as a birthday present. i understand big gifts on a birthday or christmas, but really--what mom gets their kid blue and pink uggs just because some other kids at the elemetnary school have them???
my mom never stood for that crap. she taught my brother and i how to save money for things you want, and we only got big things (aka anything more than $50 was big to us) on a special occasion.christmas, birthdays, graduations, and really good accomplishments once in a while. (when i was first published in a magazine for a poem, i got to pick out a piece of jewelry.) the reward system is fine for kids as long as they actually earn what you give them. my little brother recently got into the Virginia Tech architecture program (no small feat, they take 90 out of 1,200 applicants) which would be a cause for a reward. awesome accomplishments = deserving of rewards. being born into money does not = deserving of rewards for no reason.
but seriously..when little kids are well off because of their parents' success, they don't learn to value anything. i can't tell you how often i see kids in restaraunts on their cell phones or DS', blatantly unaware of what goes on around them. its awful. the art of conversation is lost because the parents would rather their child sit down and shut up for an hour than involve them in communicating with adults. thats a good skill to learn, and because i was talking to adults at age 5, i'm a pretty damn good "people person." my dad works in a restaraunt and wont serve people until their kid stops being anti-social. he said he tells them "i'll come back to take your order when he's done," he said to a family the other night whos' 11 year old was engrossed in a game on his iPhone. yes, the child has an iPhone. why? what is the point?
i just dont get it.. i have a cheap phone i got with my family plan upgrade, and its fine. it makes calls, looks nice, has a keyboard, sends texts, and i even got picture messaging on it. but why am i content with my one pair of Uggs and my HP laptop and a 12 year old NEEEEDS the newest mac, the iPhone 4, an xbox AND a ps3, and expensive clothes they will outgrow in a year to be happy?? what happened to the parents? why dont they stop over-indulging and teach their kids the value of a dollar, or how to earn something????? kids are becoming way too materialistic, and ever evolving technology feeds their needs. this is why im calling them the "gimme generation" because no amount of expensive high-end products will ever be enough for these spoiled brats.
dont get me wrong-- i LOVE designer clothes and purses and jewelry and of course shoes. but i dont go out buying it all or asking for every new trend that comes out.
